Tastes of our cities
Yesterday, The National listed some of the most expensive dishes available. For example you can find a burger for Dh495, a 1.8kg tin of caviar for Dh52,326 and a cupcake made with 23-carat edible gold sheets for Dh3,676.
Luckily there is no dearth of eateries in our country. With more than 200 nationalities, almost all of which have eateries to provide their compatriots with a taste of home – whether it’s Afghan tandoori, Japanese sushi, Filipino halo-halo, Nepalese momo or Lebanese grill – you will find the authentic cuisine of any country you can imagine.
And you can get many traditonal delicacies for a handful of dirhams. For instance, the average price of a thali at a smaller Indian restaurant is Dh10, while a dosa costs Dh5. A couple of samosas would set you back Dh1 or Dh2, while a plate of momo would cost Dh10. You name it and it’s available at equally low prices.
We all like to splash out sometimes, but your wallet and tummy will thank you for seeking out tasty cheaper options.
