Candidates must have prior experience in arts and culture editing and possess strong writing and reporting skills, with proven examples of published work. You should be a driven, imaginative, highly organised journalist with a bursting contacts book and a head full of strong content ideas.

You should be capable of managing a team of writers, working closely with the creative, social and multimedia departments, and planning long-term features projects with senior editors. Excellent time and deadline management and communication skills are essential.

Candidates must have experience running a major business title or business department and possess proven management skills. You should have a deep understanding of companies, economics and finance in the UAE and wider Mena region – plus a network of serious contacts and a record of breaking exclusive stories and securing agenda-setting interviews. Candidates should be strong editors, with an understanding of analytics and social media strategy and the ability to present and package stories in the most eye-catching way possible. The ability to generate original story ideas and see them through to fruition is vital, as is the capacity to explain complex concepts.

The successful candidate will head a team of 13 reporters and editors in Abu Dhabi and London, and can call on the services of other correspondents elsewhere in the world. There is also a substantial freelance budget.
