Candidates should have at least three years’ experience working on the foreign desk of a major news organisation. You should have strong editing proficiency – the ability to turn often complicated stories into readable copy. A deep knowledge of politics and diplomacy in the Mena region and the wider world is required, as well as an eye for a story and the ability to manage a team of reporters. Arabic language skills are an advantage. The job is office-based, in Abu Dhabi. The National is one of the leading sources of news about the UAE, Middle East, North Africa and beyond, with core team of journalists in the UAE and bureaux in London, Washington DC, Beirut and Cairo, as well as correspondents across the Mena region and further afield. |
