DUBAI // So far 1,200 children have registered to take part in the inaugural Etisalat Kids Run later this month.
The event aims to encourage children to adopt a healthier lifestyle and will have a capacity of 2,000 runners aged from as young as four through to 12.
Organisers are preparing to host 12,000 people during the two-day event, which includes a free funfair.
“We are all really looking forward to the event and the response we have had from the public has been phenomenal,” said Dominic De Sousa, chairman of event organisers CPI Media Group.
“We’re expecting a sell-out on the day and can promise a wonderful day out for families.”
The kids run takes place on March 20 at Dubai Media City Amphitheatre and is split into three races.
For children aged four to eight there is a guided 2km walk, while nine to 12-year-olds can stretch their legs over the same distance unaccompanied.
Friends and families can also take part in the third “wheelie” 3km fun run for four to 12-year-olds, which allows parents with small children in buggies to participate.
Among the attractions will be karate lessons, a football pitch, a play area for younger children as well as zumba classes.
Children who would like to take part can do so for a fee of Dh100 by registering online at www.etisalatkidsrun.com or on the day.
