ABU DHABI // A new Dh200 note with tactile marks for the visually impaired will be put into circulation on Monday, the UAE Central Bank has said.

The tactile features will be engraved in bleed-off intaglio printing on the edge of the banknote’s short sides and will include two horizontal lines at either side.

The silver metallic thread will be replaced with a broader, 3mm, multicolour thread on the back of the note.

The metallic ink surrounding the UAE emblem on the front top half of the note will also be replaced by a multicoloured shifting element.

The overall design and other specifications of the note will be the same as those currently in circulation.

The Central Bank’s move is to help visually impaired people access all banking services. It follows similar changes made to the Dh500 and Dh5 notes last year.
