Dessert parlour Scoopi Café in Dubai’s Jumeirah 3 is known for its luxe creations. Waffle lollies, black truffle ice cream and edible charcoal aside, it also serves the UAE’s most expensive ice cream: the black diamond.
The Dh3,000 sundae comprises edible gold (among other delicacies), and Scoopi has also added the popular ingredient to two new creations on its 2020 menu, a burger and a coffee.
Here are some gold-dusted dishes to try.
Edible gold ice-cream burger
The Dh199 burger is topped with white and dark chocolate sauce and layered with a 24K edible gold leaf. The handmade three-tier bun also features two flavours of liquid nitrogen ice cream sandwiched in between for an ultra-frozen yet creamy texture.
Golden latte
If the caffeine in this Dh45 drink is not enough of a pick-me-up, perhaps the edible gold flakes it is blended and topped with will be.
Black diamond
The sundae is made with vanilla bean ice cream from Madagascar, saffron from Iran, rare black truffles from Italy and 23K edible gold. It’s all served in a Versace bowl with a Versace spoon – which you get to keep as part of the Dh2,999 price tag.
Charcoal ice cream with edible gold
Priced at Dh99 a scoop, the jet-black ice cream is topped with an intricate gold leaf foil.
