RAS AL KHAIMAH // An Emirati teenager has been arrested for doing driving stunts in front of a school, police said on Thursday.
The 17-year-old motorist fled after he crashed into two vehicles being driven by others. He had lost control of his car while driving recklessly.
RAK Police received a tip-off about what he was up to and he was arrested an hour later.
People in the other cars were taken to hospital as a precautionary measure but were released later.
Police said it was wrong to flee an accident scene and that reckless drivers who endanger the lives of others will be punished.
Major General Ali Al Nuaimi, chief commander of RAK Police, said that inspection campaigns are under way to detect those without licences and those who drive recklessly.
“We will arrest reckless drivers and take legal action against them and we will confiscate their vehicles or motorbikes,” he said.
