Friday sermon: do not oppress anyone

Worshippers will be told to ensure they base relationships on common affection and love

There is nothing worthy of absolute love and adoration, except Allah and Prophet Mohammed is the perfect example of this, Friday’s sermon will say.

Worshippers will be advised to adhere to a heartfelt consciousness of the love of Allah. As Allah says: “O mankind, worship your Lord, who created you and those before you, that you may become righteous."

The sermon will go onto say that Allah urges mankind to behave with justice and to achieve equity in their interactions. “Indeed, Allah does not do injustice, [even] as much as an atom's weight," the sermon reads.

"Hence, Allah has forbidden injustice for his servants, prohibiting them from oppressing each other, ensuring that the rights of people are preserved."

In other words, oppression will bring about darkness for its perpetrator and the light of the believers will shine bright before them.

Worshipers will also be told to reflect on their actions in life and ensure they do not oppress anyone, that their relationships be based on common affection and love and that mutual trust be the foundation in all of their interactions.

Allah has commanded us to ask him for guidance, for that is from his mercy and he is the one who guides, as he says: “He whom Allah guides is the [rightly] guided."

So each person should strive to ensure they take the path of guidance, such that they become guided by Allah.

“And those who are guided - He increases them in guidance and gives them their righteousness.”

Whoever sincerely seeks guidance will find that Allah accepts them, the sermon goes on to say.

And whoever finds themselves as having been guided should thank Allah for this, as this is what the people of Paradise do, as Allah says: “Praise to Allah, who has guided us to this and we would never have been guided if Allah had not guided us.”

The sermon will add that Allah is the one who provides and is the possessor of overpowering force.

“And there is no creature on earth but that upon Allah is its provision.”

He is the one who encourages his servant that they ask him for provision from food and drink. “So seek from Allah provision and worship Him and be grateful to Him. To Him you will be returned.”
