It is the only Middle Eastern city hosting the Wings for Life World Run, organisers announced on Sunday.
The race, scheduled for May 3, is a fundraiser for the Wings for Life research foundation on spinal-cord injuries, which affect almost three million people worldwide, the foundation says.
The run has raised US$4 million (Dh1.5m) since its first event last year. Leading causes of spinal-cord injuries are traffic accidents and falls. Participants can register at www.wingsforlifeworldrun.com. All fees are donated to funding research.
