Chad, Koufroun, 29 April 2023 WFP food distributions in the site of Koufroun, East of Chad, to refugees having recently arrived from Sudan. They live in makeshift shelters, trying to hide from the torrid 40 degrees heating sun under meager trees. Many of the refugees are coming from the Tandulti area, located just across the Chadian border. They fled renewed insecurity and violence. Either armed groups attacked people in their villages, or other people left theirs as preventive measure and find security in Chad. Those attacked had just time to run for their lives and those having fled preventively, gathered a lot of their belongings and took them to Chad (including beds, cupboards, etc.). From 26 to 29 April, WFP distributed food (split peas or sorghum, oil, and Super Cereal Plus) to 6,000 refugees.
