Concerts and theatre productions featuring pop stars and local favourites form part of the Eid Al Fitr celebrations in Saudi Arabia.

The General Entertainment Authority, organiser of the recently launched citywide festival Jeddah Seasons, has announced a line-up of events that will take place across the kingdom from Monday, the first day of Eid Al Fitr, until Saturday.

Festivities will begin with firework displays in various cities, including Riyadh, from 9.30pm, followed by 14 concerts and plays, which will run throughout the week.

The concerts

Mohamed Ramadan leads a bumper line-up of shows, with the Egyptian pop star and face of this year's Ramadan drama Al Mishwar performing at the Jeddah Superdome on Tuesday.

That same night will also have a concert by Saudi crooner Mohammed Abdu at Al Muftaha Village in Abha.

Also on Tuesday, Syrian singer Assala Nasri will team up Tunisian singer Oumaima Taleb for a women-only concert at the Princess Nourah Bint Abdul Rahman University.

On Wednesday, Iraqi singer Majid Al Mohandis will take to the stage at the Jeddah Superdome, and on the next night Egyptian singer Angham will join Saudi singers Fahad Al Kubaisi and Rashed Al Fares at King Abdullah Sports City Stadium in Buraidah.

Iraqi singer Kadim Al Sahir will cap off the musical celebrations with a concert on Saturday at the Abu Baker Salem Stage in Riyadh.

Theatrical performances

Theatrical comedies, a popular tradition during Eid, will feature as part of the holiday week, with shows running from Wednesday to Friday.

Saudi star Rashid Al Shamrani will perform in Tar Bil A'ja at the King Khalid University Theatre in Abha.

Riyadh’s Baker Al Sheddi Theatre will host the comedy El Leila El Kebeira, while the Society of Culture and Arts in Jeddah will stage Al-Lambi fi Al-Jahiliya.

A new Cirque du Soleil show, Fuzion, will be launched on Monday evening at Jeddah's King Abdullah Sports City Stadium. Running as part of Jeddah Season, the acrobatic circus performance will run each night until May 28.
