Travellers flying with Emirates airline to Dubai will now be encouraged to add a visit to Abu Dhabi to their holiday plans.
Emirates airline has partnered with Abu Dhabi tourism bosses to make it easier for tourists to check out the UAE capital.
The Dubai airline and the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi will work together to encourage visitors to experience more than one emirate on trips to the UAE.
With about an hour between Dubai and Abu Dhabi by road, the two destinations are easy options for travellers on holiday in the Emirates.
“We are committed to promoting our home base, the UAE, as a travel and tourism hub, with its rich array of attractions and line-up of experiences and events that showcase the best of what all seven emirates have to offer,” said Adnan Kazim, Emirates airline's chief commercial officer.
As part of the deal, which was signed at the Arabian Travel Market, the two organisations will create holiday packages that encompass the city of Dubai with its world-renowned attractions and Abu Dhabi’s rich cultural offerings and natural landscapes.
“From thrills and adventures that can be found at our captivating experiences and theme parks such as Warner Brothers Abu Dhabi, to leading museums such as Louvre Abu Dhabi, there is something for everyone to enjoy. We can’t wait to share our Abu Dhabi story with the world,” said Saleh Mohamed Saleh Al Geziry, the director general for tourism at DCT – Abu Dhabi.
Comprising more than 200 islands, Abu Dhabi is known for its rich culture, family-friendly resorts and natural landscapes, including mangrove networks, fossil dunes and salt lakes.
The deal follows an emirate-wide tourism drive in the UAE to boost collaborating between all local tourism authorities and departments.
It comes after DCT Abu Dhabi launched a tourism campaign called Summer Like You Mean It, inspiring travellers to visit the capital this season.
The promotion showcases activities such as yoga at Louvre Abu Dhabi and swimming with tiger sharks at the National Aquarium, and will include the launch of a summer pass that offers free access to attractions.
