DUBAI // Rear car seat belts in 9,446 Toyota RAV4 cars manufactured between 2006 and 2012 may not securely restrain passengers in case of a high-speed frontal collision, according to Al-Futtaim Motors.
Al-Futtaim has begun a campaign to inform customers about steps that must be taken.
“Due to the shape of the seat frame in the rear passenger seats, in the event of an extreme high-speed frontal collision, there is a possibility that the seat frame could come in contact with the seatbelt strap when engaged causing it not to properly restrain the occupant,” according to a statement from the company, the exclusive Toyota distributor in the country.
Customers should contact Al-Futtaim Motors customer care centre on 800-Toyota (800-809082) from 8am-7pm from Saturday to Thursday.
