ABU DHABI // More police patrols and speed cameras will be in place along the Abu Dhabi — Sila Road and Abu Dhabi — Al Ain Road in a bid to reduce traffic accidents.
Colonel Ahmed Al Shehhi, acting director of the Traffic and Patrols Directorate at Abu Dhabi Police, said the force has increased the number of mobile and fixed radars and have equipped patrols in the Western Region with sniper radars to catch speeding motorists.
He urged drivers on Abu Dhabi - Sila Road to respect speed limits for their safety and that of other road users.
Col Al Shehhi said speed limits differ along the road from Abu Dhabi to Ghuwaifat. The first 176 kilometres from the Al Dhafrah Bridge intersection to the Baynunah Forest has a speed limit of 100kmh for small vehicles, with radars tuned at 121kmh.
The speed limit then changes to 120kmh with radars tuned at 141kmh until Baraka. The speed limit from Baraka to Al Ghuwaifat is 100kmh, with radars tuned to 121kmh.
