DUBAI// As interest in Indian soaps and movies has increased, companies that dub and subtitle the score from Hindi to Arabic have seen a boom in business.
“Dubbing takes about 7-10 working days depending on the number of characters in each movie. For subtitling, it takes about three working days,” said Bama Devan, senior vice president of business affairs at Tanmeer Group.
“There is the translation of scripts, adaptation, language-checking, voice recording, mixing and finally laying the mixed audio track on the video.
“Dubbing cost will vary depending on the number of characters, genre and length of the movie, the broadcasters pay for it.”
Ms Devan said dubbing and subtitling was a booming business in the region.
“Indian films have been all-time favourites to the Gulf audience and in the recent years it has increased a lot as some of the major television networks have launched exclusive channels for Bollywood titles in the Middle East.”
The company has more than 150 artists who translate several genres of programmes such as Bollywood films, series, English documentaries, animations, Mexican telenovellas and Turkish films and soap operas.
