The Ministry of Interior has said it received 4,654 calls from the public in the past 10 months regarding the traffic black points reduction programme.
The system allows traffic offenders to be notified by SMS of when they incur demerit points.
Lt Col Saif Obaid Al Khaili, director of the PFD, said it allows motorists to stay informed about their traffic records and avoid licence suspension when the 24-point limit is reached.
He said it aims to give drivers a chance to avoid withdrawal of their permits and improve their behaviour on the roads through awareness programmes.
