DUBAI // A 19-year-old Iranian posed as a police officer to kidnap and attempt to rape a schoolboy, the Criminal Court has heard.

On Sunday, the defendant denied charges of kidnap, attempted rape, physical assault and overstaying his visa.

The alleged victim, a Bahraini whose age was not mentioned in court, told prosecutors that on December 3 last year he was riding a motorbike with a friend in the Al Muhaisnah area when the accused pulled them over.

“It was about 8pm when he drove his car close to our bike and ordered us to stop,” said the boy. “He said he was a policeman but, when we asked him for ID, he screamed at us and said he did not show his card to children.”

He said he was dragged into the defendant’s car and then driven around for five minutes, before they stopped in a nearby car park, where the defendant asked boy to have sex with him.

“I refused so he slapped me on the face few times and tried to undress me but I resisted and ran out of the car,” said the boy.

The defendant then drove away when the boy’s older brother approached the car.

The boy’s friend said: “When he stopped our bike, he took away its key and ordered us to come to his car but we walked away from him so he drove his car slowly towards us and slightly hit my friend to scare us.”

A verdict is expected on June 12.
