DUBAI // Accidents across the emirate caused a slow start to the week for commuters on Sunday.
An accident on Sheikh Zayed Road after Dubai Marina and Jumeirah Lakes Towers caused delays for motorists heading to Jebel Ali, according to @TrafficDXB.
Two accidents in both directions on Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road, near National Paints, also caused congestion.
Residents reported heavy traffic outside Sahara Centre on Dubai - Sharjah Road
On Al Khail Road, after the Zabeel Road exit, traffic slowed in the direction of Dubai Mall because of an accident.
Several accidents were reported on Al Ittihad Road before and after Al Mulla Plaza north-bound, exacerbating rush-hour traffic for commuters.
On Emirates Road, an accident caused delays before the Maliha Road intersection towards Abu Dhabi.
As heavy rain in Dubai caused further complications for motorists, the Roads and Transport Authority reminded motorists not to use heavy brakes in water while driving in such conditions.
In Sharjah, “massive congestion” was reported on Al Dhaid Road because of an accident after the airport towards Emirates Road.
No injuries were reported.

Tearful appearance
Chancellor Rachel Reeves set markets on edge as she appeared visibly distraught in parliament on Wednesday.
Legislative setbacks for the government have blown a new hole in the budgetary calculations at a time when the deficit is stubbornly large and the economy is struggling to grow.
