DUBAI // Dubai inspectors confiscated about 30 tonnes of goods from manholes where they were being used to store items intended for sale.

Inspectors at Dubai Municipality Environmental Emergency Office found the items in 10 abandoned manholes in the labour accommodation in Muhaisina.

The confiscated items were destroyed, said Mohammed Al Balooshi, head of the office, which had received information about the manholes being used as storage for items such as blankets, carpets and kitchenware.

“All of them were packed and ready for sale to the public,” said Mr Al Balooshi.

He said a report had been compiled and that efforts will be made to control people “who play with the health and safety of our workers”.
