DUBAI // A secretary who slapped a security guard in a row over a parking space was fined Dh3,000 yesterday.

Briton C?M, 40, lashed out after the guard refused to move some cones closing off spaces in a car park.

The woman got out of her BMW and moved the cones herself. But when she returned to her vehicle the guard had replaced them, so she drove through them.

She then got out of her car and slapped the guard.

“When I asked why she slapped me, she said that I was a f****** security guard,” said M?A, 27, from Bangladesh.

He recorded the woman’s insults using his mobile phone then reported the assault at Bur Dubai Police Station, giving the officers the BMW’s licence plate number.

The incident took place on March 11 at Emirates Towers.

He woman denied assault and insulting the guard at the Misdemeanours Court.

She admitted moving the cones, but said she only did so because she saw vacant parking spaces.

“I parked my car then headed to my work in the tower,” said the secretary. She said the guard had shouted at her that there were no vacant spots, so she shouted back,  “no, there are”.

She said she hit his hand by accident while moving a cone.

But a witness backed up the guard’s story. “I heard the woman talking very loudly to the guard and I heard him asking her why she had hit him,” said S?A.

She was convicted of both assaulting and insulting the guard.
