DUBAI // An executive bank manager harassed a female colleague and threatened to send a gang after her to intimidate her, a court heard this morning.

The 43-year-old Indian RP told the Dubai Court of Misdemeanours he was merely joking when he sent a modified picture of himself to the senior banking officer's mobile. He said the messages were sent for fun.

Prosecutors charged RP with disrespecting a woman by sending her insulting and inappropriate messages. He was also charged with threatening her with a text message saying, "There are many Indians in Dubai, and I will send you a number of Indian men to do to her what they want."

The 31-year-old American woman told prosecutors that when she was texting with RP he sent her several such inappropriate and intimidating messages.

For instance, she said, she asked him if he knew a good massage center and he replied: "I will massage you because I love having sex with stupid blond women. You need discipline and I will do that for you, sweetheart, so get ready."

The woman said the offending messages started on April 6.

"That's not true. I'm happily married, and all that I sent was a joke, and I sent the picture to many friends – not only to her," RP said.

The next hearing will be on September 21.
