Almost 40,000 Emirati passports renewed at Dubai Airport in four years

More than 38,000 passports have been issued electronically for Emiratis who found their passports expired in the course of preparing to travel.

Emirati citizens can renew their passports at Dubai Airport if they find them expired upon their arrival at the airport, said Brig Ahmed Al Muhairi, assistant director of naturalisation affairs at the General Directorate of Residency and Foreign Affairs.

“They can renew their passports within ten minutes at an office dedicated to renewing expired passports of Emiratis around the clock throughout the week,” said Brig Al Muhairi.

However, he urged all passengers to ensure the validity of their passports for at least six months before travelling.

Brig Al Muhairi said the number of Emiratis approaching the centre to renew their passports is on the rise because some depend on it to renew their passports immediately.

The centre, which was set up at Dubai Airport’s Terminal 3 in 2014, has offered its services to 38,505 Emiratis.
