On another day of high scoring in the English Premier League, Liverpool put six past Cardiff City to keep the gap to league leaders Chelsea to four points.
Chelsea had earlier beaten Arsenal 6-0 to ensure they remained top of the table.
But Liverpool kept pace with a convincing win in Wales, despite twice going behind.
Jordon Mutch had put Cardiff ahead before Luis Suarez levelled for the visitors.
But the Cardiff fans were cheering again when Fraizer Campbell restored their lead after 25 minutes.
The title hopefuls showed their strength as they pulled away from their hosts after a Martin Skrtel double had given them the lead.
Suarez added a fourth before Daniel Sturridge made sure of the win.
There was a late consolation for Cardiff when Mutch reduced the deficit to 5-3. But there was still time for Suarez to have the last word as he rounded goalkeeper David Marshall to complete his hat-trick.
Manchester City also ensured they kept pace near the top with a 5-0 win over bottom club Fulham.
Yaya Toure scored two penalties to ease the nerves at Etihad Stadium, with Fernando Amorebieta to blame for both, the second seeing him receive a red card for a trip on David Silva.
Toure struck a fine third from outside the area to complete his first hat-trick for City, and Fernandinho and Martin Demichelis did the rest of the damage late on with a goal apiece.
Elsewhere, Everton held on for a 3-2 home win over Swansea City, and Hull City defeated league strugglers West Bromwich Albion 2-0 .
Newcastle United grabbed an injury-time winner over Crystal Palace and Norwich City had a welcome 2-0 win over Sunderland.
