Fernando Torres has said winning Atletico Madrid’s first ever Uefa Champions League would be an even greater feeling than lifting the World Cup.
Atletico face Bayern Munich in the first leg of their semi-final at the Vicente Calderon on Wednesday.
Torres was on the opposition side when Atletico reached the last four for the first time in 40 years two years ago and even scored for Chelsea as the Spaniards went through 3-1 on aggregate.

Despite winning the European Championship twice and the World Cup with Spain as well as the Champions League with Chelsea, his love for Atletico would make European success there the sweetest of his distinguished career.
Torres, 32, is enjoying a fine spell of form, having scored five goals in his last six games to become a starter for Diego Simeone’s side. It is a welcome reverse in fortune for the Spain striker, who suffered a remarkable collapse in performance levels when he joined Premier League club Chelsea for a then British transfer record fee in January 2011.
“I feel very lucky to have been with great teams,” Torres said. “But for me personally nothing compares to what it would be like to do it with Atletico.”
