Chelsea midfielder set for January loan exit — AC Milan and Manchester City interested

Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas is reportedly set to leave the club on loan during the January transfer window.

Fabregas, 29, joined Chelsea in the summer of 2014 and was a key part of the side that won the Premier League title. The Spain international remained a regular starter during last season’s disastrous title defence as Chelsea endured a season that saw Jose Mourinho sacked and the club finish 10th in the table.

With Antonio Conte now in charge, Fabregas has found game-time limited, starting just once in the Premier League, with N’Golo Kante and Nemanja Matic the Italian’s preferred midfield pairing.

Fabregas’ marginalisation at the start of the season led to speculation he could be leaving Chelsea before the summer transfer deadline, claims he vehemently denied.

However, The Times have reported that Fabregas will be encouraged to leave Chelsea on loan in January as the club look to get his substantial wages off the bill.

Indeed, it has been reported that Chelsea are even willing to partly subsidise the wages of Fabregas, who is their third-highest earner and still has two-and-a-half years left on his contract.

AC Milan remain interested in a loan deal after the Italians held discussions with Fabregas in the summer, while Manchester City are also credited with an interest.
