Star striker Harry Kane has been left out of Tottenham’s squad that faces Manchester City on Sunday, adding more fuel to speculation that he is still eyeing a move to Pep Guardiola’s team.
The England captain only managed two training sessions with the Spurs first team following his late return from holiday. And it was decided he was not fit enough to even take a place on the bench and did not travel to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Kane joined the main group on Friday after completing his mandatory quarantine following his holiday in the Bahamas and Florida.
There was some controversy leading up to the start of the new season with reports emerging that Kane stayed away from pre-season training in order to force a move to league champions City.
However, Kane later came out with a statement saying that he had “never refused” to train.
Tanguy Ndombele was also left out for Spurs, who named an unchanged side from the one that started the final friendly against Arsenal last week. On the other side, Jack Grealish made his full debut for City following his £100 million ($138.5m) move from Aston Villa, while Kevin De Bruyne was named on the bench.
