Chelsea are confident they have beaten rivals Liverpool and Arsenal to the signature of Barcelona forward Pedro, according to reports.
Pedro, 27, recently revealed “there are offers for me this summer”, leading to widespread speculation over his potential destination.
Premier League clubs Chelsea, Arsenal, and Liverpool, as well as Serie A giants Inter Milan have all been credited with interest in the Spain international.
However, according to the Daily Star, Chelsea are expecting to wrap up a deal for Pedro within the next week.
Chelsea have reportedly met the buyout figure in Pedro’s contract, valued at £22m (Dh126m), and the Premier League champions have offered the World Cup winner a four-year contract.
Barcelona coach Luis Enruqe this week expressed his desire to have Pedro remain at the club, but concede it was down to the player.
“My wish is that Pedro stays,” Enrique said. “But there are circumstances in his contract and I will respect his opinion if he wants to leave.”
While a highly-talented player, Pedro found game time limited last season due to the remarkable form of Barca’s attacking trio of Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez, and Neymar.
Pedro is reportedly concerned of a repeat of last season when the new campaign begins and is therefore keen on a move to Chelsea.
