Chelsea have completed the signing of Belgium striker Michy Batshuayi from Marseille on a five-year contract.
Batshuayi, 22, was one of the few positives in a disappointing season for Marseille last season. Despite the club finishing 13th in the Ligue 1 table, Batshuayi scored 23 goals and provided assists for another 10, boosting his reputation as one of the most exciting forwards in Europe.
Batshuayi arrives at Chelsea following Belgium’s Euro 2016 campaign, during which he scored one goal. He becomes the third Belgian player at Chelsea, joining international teammates Eden Hazard and Thibaut Courtois.

“I am delighted to sign for one of the biggest clubs in Europe and embark on the next chapter in my career,” Batshuayi said in a statement released on the Chelsea website. “I hope I can help Chelsea win many trophies during my time at Stamford Bridge.
“Eden Hazard and Thibaut Courtois have told me many good things about the club, and with Antonio Conte coming in it’s an exciting time to become a Chelsea player.
“This is a fantastic opportunity for myself and my family, I am looking forward to playing in the Premier League next season.”
Batshuayi treads the same path as former Chelsea striker Didier Drogba by joining the four-time Premier League champions from Marseille.
