Among my Taste of Dubai group over the weekend, the hands-down winner at the annual foodie event was Cafe Habana's creamy, spicy, pickly corned beef sandwich, The Cuban. Every single thing about this sandwich is stunning. And yes, there is a bite taken out of it in this picture because it was only as the wonderous explosion of flavour was registering with my brain that I knew deep in my bones I had to spread the word about what is going on in this Souk Al Bahar eatery.
No wonder this is an award-winning sandwich, altered slightly for this New York favourite’s launch in the UAE: corned beef, loads of mayonnaise, kosher pickles, chipotle chilies and gently toasted french loaf.
