Foodies and film buffs can now attend to their previously mutually exclusive pleasures in one fell swoop with the launch of Vox Cinemas’ new Vox Gold Menu.
Gone are the days of stale nachos and buckets of popcorn, with new delights like kamikaze shrimp, Louisiana buffalo chicken bites, seafood platter and Philly steak sandwich, served either in the Gold Lounge before the film or at your plush, reclining gold seat during the main event. There’s even an in-seat ordering service for when you realise you really do need that cheese cake to finish off after all.
Cinema food purists need not worry though. Both popcorn and nachos do make the new menu, albeit in a new gourmet format – the nachos even come with real grated cheese, not the strange, chemical, cheese-themed gloop beloved of cinema snack concessions the world over. The new menu is the handiwork of Vox’s new food and beverage manager, Fahad-Quentin Bahar, who learnt his trade at The Emirates Academy of Hospitality Management, in association with the Ecole Hotelier de Lausanne in Switzerland. Bahar notes: “My vision when developing the menu was based on combining my own passion for movies with food and I wanted to create a menu that was both appealing to the sense of luxury that accompanies Vox Gold, but also mixes fun elements of food with signature selections and unexpected flavours.”
We sampled the new menu at a special screening of November Man last night (Pierce Brosnan’s character lives in Lausanne, home of the aforementioned Ecole Hotelier - subliminal messaging at work?), and it certainly brings cinema dining to a whole new level. One word of advice though – get your order in early and settle down to watch the film. You don’t want to miss that crucial plot twist while a team of waiters delivers another trolley load of tasty snacks to your seat.
*The new Vox Gold Menu is available at all Vox Gold locations: MoE and City Centre Mirdif in Dubai, Marina Mall in Abu Dhabi and Al Hamra Mall in RAK.
