MasterChef Australia fans take note; the chef and judge George Calombaris is back in the UAE and is visiting Atlantis, The Palm, next week to host a Press Club Gala Dinner on Friday at Ossiano.
The evening kicks off with a canapes and a cocktail reception at 7pm, before guests are seated at tables of 10, ready to enjoy a six-course dinner featuring dishes from Calombaris's Melbourne restaurant The Press Club.
His style is described as “modern Greek, taking the best of centuries of Hellenic gastronomy and mixing it with modern techniques, contemporary style and the finest ingredients”.
If that sounds like just the thing for your Friday evening, tickets are priced at a cool Dh1,250 per person, including drinks.
Calombaris will also be helping to launch the hotel’s new weekly brunch at the steakhouse Seafire. Billed as a family-friendly affair, the brunch will focus around five different sections: providore (cheese, olives and deli bits and pieces), cold dishes (antipasti and mezze), butchery (featuring “certified Atlantis beef” from Australia), fish and patisserie (plenty of large cakes to share). There’s also a designated entertainment section for children.

As social media apps are becoming more and more consumed by health experts and nutritionists who are using it to awareness and encourage patients to engage in physical activity.
Elizabeth Watson, a personal trainer from Stay Fit gym in Abu Dhabi suggests that “individuals can use social media as a means of keeping fit, there are a lot of great exercises you can do and train from experts at home just by watching videos on YouTube”.
Norlyn Torrena, a clinical nutritionist from Burjeel Hospital advises her clients to be more technologically active “most of my clients are so engaged with their phones that I advise them to download applications that offer health related services”.
Torrena said that “most people believe that dieting and keeping fit is boring”.
However, by using social media apps keeping fit means that people are “modern and are kept up to date with the latest heath tips and trends”.
“It can be a guide to a healthy lifestyle and exercise if used in the correct way, so I really encourage my clients to download health applications” said Mrs Torrena.
People can also connect with each other and exchange “tips and notes, it’s extremely healthy and fun”.
