Mi aventura en la India ha terminado, al menos por este año. Mi equipo, el Mumbai City, ganó la etapa de liga de la Superliga India, lo cual significa que nos clasificamos para las semifinales por primera vez en nuestra corta historia. Siempre fue nuestro objetivo terminar entre los cuatro primeros y lo hemos conseguido.

He disfrutado de mi estancia aquí y me gustaría volver para la Superliga India la próxima temporada. Jugué un montón de partidos, anoté cinco goles e hice cuatro asistencias. Hemos tenido un buen entrenador y un gran grupo de jugadores. El estado de ánimo ha sido positivo y los resultados también, sobre todo porque éramos un equipo completamente nuevo.
Mi familia ha disfrutado mucho de la India, y de la hospitalidad y amabilidad de la gente que hemos conocido. Los aficionados estaban entusiasmados; los estadios, llenos. Me voy a tomar un descanso con mi familia por el Océano Índico mientras decido mi futuro. Tengo 37 años pero puedo jugar a un buen nivel. No he recibido ninguna oferta de otros clubs y he estado concentrado en el Mumbai City, pero ahora estoy listo para escuchar, para comenzar a jugar en enero si es necesario. Tengo mis botas y estoy preparado para viajar.
El cricket sigue siendo el deporte estrella en la India, pero el fútbol es cada vez más popular. Con una población de mil millones, hay mucho potencial, pero no son solo los clubs de la liga india los que está tratando de atraer a los aficionados al fútbol.
Los principales clubes europeos como el Manchester United han cortejado durante mucho tiempo el mercado indio. El fin de semana pasado me topé con mis antiguos compañeros del United Dwight Yorke, Bojan Djordic y Quinton Fortune en el hotel de Calcuta donde estaba con mi equipo. Es una estrategia inteligente y, si bien el United últimamente ha tenido problemas en el terreno de juego, fuera de él son los mejores comercialmente hablando. El Real Madrid, el Barcelona, el Bayern de Múnich y el PSG siguen los pasos del United. El United fue el primer club en tener una megastore, el primero en hacer una gira por Asia y los EE.UU. en la pretemporada en los tiempos modernos. Incluso envió equipos a Estados Unidos en barco por el Atlántico ya en los años cuarenta del siglo pasado.
Me alegré de ver a los antiguos jugadores. Quinton y yo éramos buenos compañeros cuando llegué al club. Hablaba español, había estado en el Atlético de Madrid y había sorprendido a la gente cuando firmó para el United porque no era una estrella en el Calderón. Incluso sus propios compañeros de equipo pensaron que mentía cuando les dijo que iba a fichar para el United. Pero tenía una buena carrera, que habría sido mejor de no ser por las lesiones.
Bojan es un sueco de origen serbio. Es inteligente, hablador y divertido. Jugué con él en el segundo equipo del United y él casi llegó a ser titular del primer equipo. Le encanta el fútbol y ha jugado para más clubes de fútbol que yo. Estuvo en la Superliga de India la temporada pasada.
Dwight ganó el triplete y fue recibido como un rey por los aficionados fanáticos de la India, pero lo que contribuye a la popularidad del United es tener un equipo ganador y este no ha sido el caso en las últimas tres temporadas. Sé que el equipo actualmente va sexto y está muy lejos de la cima de la Premier League encabezada por el Chelsea, pero creo sinceramente que José Mourinho hará que vuelvan a ganar. También veo señales positivas, como la victoria contra el Spurs, que fue resuelta con un magnífico gol de Henrikh Mkhitaryan. El United ganó nuevamente el miércoles en el Crystal Palace y ya lleva nueve partidos invicto en todas las competiciones. Y aunque no destaca en la clasificación, Mourinho ha triunfado allí donde ha ido y le encanta la idea de estar en el United. Tiene mucho trabajo por hacer y está en un club que todavía no ha superado por completo la marcha de Sir Alex Ferguson. Esto no facilitó las cosas a David Moyes ni a Louis van Gaal y, aunque no creo que Mourinho gane la liga con el United esta temporada, me sorprendería si no la ganara en los tres años que dura su contrato.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy told the German parliament that. Russia had erected a new wall across Europe.

Garlicky shrimp in olive oil
Gambas Al Ajillo
Preparation time: 5 to 10 minutes

Ingredients
180ml extra virgin olive oil; 4 to 5 large cloves of garlic, minced or pureed (or 3 to 4 garlic scapes, roughly chopped); 1 or 2 small hot red chillies, dried (or ¼ teaspoon dried red chilli flakes); 400g raw prawns, deveined, heads removed and tails left intact; a generous splash of sweet chilli vinegar; sea salt flakes for seasoning; a small handful of fresh flat-leaf parsley, roughly chopped
Method
▶ Heat the oil in a terracotta dish or frying pan. Once the oil is sizzling hot, add the garlic and chilli, stirring continuously for about 10 seconds until golden and aromatic.
▶ Add a splash of sweet chilli vinegar and as it vigorously simmers, releasing perfumed aromas, add the prawns and cook, stirring a few times.
▶ Once the prawns turn pink, after 1 or 2 minutes of cooking, remove from the heat and season with sea salt flakes.
▶ Once the prawns are cool enough to eat, scatter with parsley and serve with small forks or toothpicks as the perfect sharing starter. Finish off with crusty bread to soak up all that flavour-infused olive oil.

How the UAE gratuity payment is calculated now
Employees leaving an organisation are entitled to an end-of-service gratuity after completing at least one year of service.
The tenure is calculated on the number of days worked and does not include lengthy leave periods, such as a sabbatical. If you have worked for a company between one and five years, you are paid 21 days of pay based on your final basic salary. After five years, however, you are entitled to 30 days of pay. The total lump sum you receive is based on the duration of your employment.
1. For those who have worked between one and five years, on a basic salary of Dh10,000 (calculation based on 30 days):
a. Dh10,000 ÷ 30 = Dh333.33. Your daily wage is Dh333.33
b. Dh333.33 x 21 = Dh7,000. So 21 days salary equates to Dh7,000 in gratuity entitlement for each year of service. Multiply this figure for every year of service up to five years.
2. For those who have worked more than five years
c. 333.33 x 30 = Dh10,000. So 30 days’ salary is Dh10,000 in gratuity entitlement for each year of service.
Note: The maximum figure cannot exceed two years total salary figure.
