La Juventus contra el Real Madrid, qué final de Champions nos espera después de las semifinales de esta semana. No creo que haya habido una final tan igualada en años.
El Madrid, actual campeón, tiene una delantera mejor. Pero la Juventus, que eliminó a los blancos en 2015, tiene una mejor defensa y cuenta además con Gonzalo Higuaín, Paulo Dybala, Mario Mandzukic y Juan Cuadrado en el ataque; todos ellos, jugadores de primer nivel; todos ellos, capaces de resolver un partido. Todos ellos, en forma.
¿Qué me queda por decir sobre la delantera del Madrid? Pues que gracias a ella será el favorito –esperando convertirse en el primer equipo de la época Champions en conservar el trofeo– pero lo que me gusta de ambos equipos es cómo pueden cambiar su manera de jugar.
Ambos prefieren un juego ofensivo, ambos pueden cambiar de formación, contraatacar, pueden soportar o poner presión, ralentizar el juego o acelerarlo, jugar a balón largo o hacer pases precisos. Zinedine Zidane es relativamente nuevo como entrenador, pero me ha impresionado tácticamente y, en especial, cómo ha utilizado a sus jugadores y ha variado sus tácticas.
Massimiliano Allegri es un maestro de la táctica y uno de sus mejores partidos al mando que vi fue el partido de vuelta de la semifinal de 2015 en el Bernabéu, en la que la Juventus se clasificó controlando un partido sin tener posesión del balón. Parece una contradicción, pero no lo es.
Las plantillas de ambos equipos son extraordinarias, con tanto talento que algunos grandes jugadores estarán en el banquillo en Cardiff. Ambos equipos tienen todo lo que les ha permitido llegar hasta donde están hoy y casi sin puntos débiles. Ambos son muy difíciles de ganar.
Puede que la Juventus haya perdido a Paul Pogba, pero está mejor que cuando perdió la final de 2015 ante el Barcelona.
Ha adquirido más experiencia y conocimiento, y tiene más confianza en sus propias habilidades. Lo demostró yendo al Camp Nou y defendiendo una ventaja de 3-0 en los cuartos de final.
Tiene a Daniel Alves que está en un gran momento, lleno de experiencia y talento, y determinado a demostrar que todavía tiene lo que se necesita para jugar al más alto nivel, al igual que Patrice Evra. Alves fue excelente frente al Mónaco en la semifinal.
Me encantaría ver a Gianluigi Buffon ganar la Champions al final de su carrera. Eso sería como la película con final feliz que todo el mundo desea ver.
Tiene 39 años y sigue a un nivel muy alto. No estoy diciendo que debería dejar de jugar y, además, si gana la Champions, entonces querrá ganar la Copa Mundial de Clubes, pero sería genial para él coronarse campeón de Europa después de ser subcampeón en 2003 y 2015. Lo ha ganado casi todo, incluyendo el Mundial.
La Juventus podría ganar su sexto título consecutivo de la Serie A este fin de semana, con el que sumaría 33 en total, todo un récord. Ha permanecido excelente en Europa al mismo tiempo que en su país.
Otros clubes no han sido capaces de hacerlo. Se podía ver al Glasgow Celtic o al Paris St Germain ganando cada semana y luego caer derrotados de repente al enfrentarse a un rival superior.
Creo que el Bayern de Múnich sería mejor si hubiese tres o cuatro equipos alemanes más fuertes, así que es mérito de la Juventus que haya sido aún mejor en Europa.
También hizo algo al comienzo de esta temporada, que reforzó su posición en el ámbito nacional: fichó a Higuaín, el mejor jugador de su principal rival.
No solo adquirió un gran jugador, sino que además debilitó a su rival más directo. Fue algo similar a lo que el Real Madrid hizo con el Barcelona cuando fichó a Luis Figo, que había sido el mejor jugador del club blaugrana.
La Juventus también lo ha hecho muy bien a pesar de las lesiones y de perder a Pogba, cuya marcha nadie se imaginó, y a Evra a mediados de temporada.
Massimiliano Allegri tiene un núcleo sólido y de confianza. La primera final contra el Barça llegó al final de su primera temporada en la Juventus. Esta llega al final de su tercera. Está listo.
A pesar de esperar la final con impaciencia, estoy decepcionado de que el Atlético de Madrid no esté en ella. Perdió la eliminatoria en el partido de ida en el Bernabéu, pero jugó de manera excelente en la primera parte del partido de vuelta, cuando subió el marcador a 2-0 en el minuto 16.
Casi lo consiguió; puso al Madrid contra las cuerdas y no lo dejaba jugar. La magnífica y ruidosa afición del Calderón, a la que yo tanto quería, estaba en forma, realmente creía que era posible.
Pero luego el Madrid demostró antes del descanso por qué es el campeón. Karim Benzema tuvo su momento.
El paradón de Jan Oblak fue de primera clase, pero luego el rebote fue cruel y llegó a las botas de Isco. Ello supuso el gol decisivo fuera de casa para el Real Madrid, pero este equipo siempre marca.
Había anotado en sus 61 partidos anteriores. Siempre es un peligro, a pesar de que se ha beneficiado de algunas decisiones que le han ayudado, como cuando Arturo Vidal del Bayern de Múnich fue expulsado en los cuartos de final después de que el Bayern lo hubiera hecho tan bien.
Al menos el Calderón llegó a ser testigo de un gran último partido europeo, en el que el Atlético derrotó al Real Madrid. Espero que la final en Cardiff, un estadio en el que jugué con el Manchester United y uno que es adecuado para el partido más importante del fútbol europeo entre los dos mejores equipos del mundo actualmente, haga honor al talento de ambos.
El ambiente en Cardiff, donde las gradas se elevan abruptamente desde el campo y los aficionados están de buen humor después de pasar el día disfrutando en el centro de la ciudad cerca del estadio, será maravilloso.

Ten tax points to be aware of in 2026
1. Domestic VAT refund amendments: request your refund within five years
If a business does not apply for the refund on time, they lose their credit.
2. E-invoicing in the UAE
Businesses should continue preparing for the implementation of e-invoicing in the UAE, with 2026 a preparation and transition period ahead of phased mandatory adoption.
3. More tax audits
Tax authorities are increasingly using data already available across multiple filings to identify audit risks.
4. More beneficial VAT and excise tax penalty regime
Tax disputes are expected to become more frequent and more structured, with clearer administrative objection and appeal processes. The UAE has adopted a new penalty regime for VAT and excise disputes, which now mirrors the penalty regime for corporate tax.
5. Greater emphasis on statutory audit
There is a greater need for the accuracy of financial statements. The International Financial Reporting Standards standards need to be strictly adhered to and, as a result, the quality of the audits will need to increase.
6. Further transfer pricing enforcement
Transfer pricing enforcement, which refers to the practice of establishing prices for internal transactions between related entities, is expected to broaden in scope. The UAE will shortly open the possibility to negotiate advance pricing agreements, or essentially rulings for transfer pricing purposes.
7. Limited time periods for audits
Recent amendments also introduce a default five-year limitation period for tax audits and assessments, subject to specific statutory exceptions. While the standard audit and assessment period is five years, this may be extended to up to 15 years in cases involving fraud or tax evasion.
8. Pillar 2 implementation
Many multinational groups will begin to feel the practical effect of the Domestic Minimum Top-Up Tax (DMTT), the UAE's implementation of the OECD’s global minimum tax under Pillar 2. While the rules apply for financial years starting on or after January 1, 2025, it is 2026 that marks the transition to an operational phase.
9. Reduced compliance obligations for imported goods and services
Businesses that apply the reverse-charge mechanism for VAT purposes in the UAE may benefit from reduced compliance obligations.
10. Substance and CbC reporting focus
Tax authorities are expected to continue strengthening the enforcement of economic substance and Country-by-Country (CbC) reporting frameworks. In the UAE, these regimes are increasingly being used as risk-assessment tools, providing tax authorities with a comprehensive view of multinational groups’ global footprints and enabling them to assess whether profits are aligned with real economic activity.

Keep it fun and engaging
Stuart Ritchie, director of wealth advice at AES International, says children cannot learn something overnight, so it helps to have a fun routine that keeps them engaged and interested.
“I explain to my daughter that the money I draw from an ATM or the money on my bank card doesn’t just magically appear – it’s money I have earned from my job. I show her how this works by giving her little chores around the house so she can earn pocket money,” says Mr Ritchie.
His daughter is allowed to spend half of her pocket money, while the other half goes into a bank account. When this money hits a certain milestone, Mr Ritchie rewards his daughter with a small lump sum.
He also recommends books that teach the importance of money management for children, such as The Squirrel Manifesto by Ric Edelman and Jean Edelman.

The flights

The trek
