The UAE pavilion at the Milan Expo has been praised as one of the most distinctive and attractive at the fair by Italy’s ambassador to the Emirates.

Giorgio Starace complimented the image, design and message the pavilion was displaying to visitors and world fair participants.

“The UAE’s participation will further contribute to increasing the number of Italian tourists and those from other countries to visit the UAE,” he told state news agency Wam. “It is an important platform to boost tourism in the UAE.”

The country’s participation highlighted the UAE’s achievements to the world and also provided excellent preparation for its hosting of Expo Dubai 2020.

The pavilion has proved popular with people within Italy, with the host nation’s media providing coverage of the distinctive nature of the exhibit.

Mr Starace described relations between the two countries as “excellent in all fields”.

Relations are particularly close in trade with Italian exports to the UAE reaching €6 billion (Dh22bn) so far this year with 6,000 Italian companies currently operating in the Emirates, said Mr Starace.
