Jason Derulo is the latest headliner to join the bill for the second Dubai Music Week.
The American R&B star will open the festival with a performance on Wednesday, September 23. Hosted at Dubai World Trade Centre, the four-day celebration will continue a day later with previously announced headliner Ellie Goulding, while Jared Leto's Thirty Seconds to Mars will perform on Friday, September 25.
A fourth Arabic-language headline act is expected to be announced shortly to close the festival on September 26.
As well as four big concerts, the event promises a mix of celebrity speakers, master classes for musicians and an "interactive entertainment village".
Born in Florida to Haitian parents, Derulo, 25, got an early break in music penning tunes for other stars, such as Diddy and Lil Wayne.
He made a mark in his own right with 2009 breakout single Watcha Say, which hit the top of the US Billboard chart.
Since then, Derulo claims to have sold a total of 50 million singles worldwide, with his biggest hits including Talk Dirty, featuring 2 Chainz, and Wiggle, featuring Snoop Dogg. His catchy Want to Want Me form his 2015 album Everything is 4 has been all over the airwaves this summer.
Derulo is no stranger to the UAE, having performed several times, including a support slot for Alicia Keys in 2013, and a club gig at Movida in December.
Most excitement, however, seems to be building for Goulding, who last visited the Emirates to play at Sandance NYE in December 2012.
The 28-year-old British star has clocked up close to 30 million record sales, known for UK number one hits Burn and Love Me Like You Do.
Sci-fi themed US rock band Thirty Seconds to Mars are led by Hollywood actor Jared Leto, on lead vocals and guitar, and brother Shannon on drums.
The trio were initially set to perform in April as part of the Middle East Film & Comic Con.
Dubai Music Week was launched in September 2013 by founder Quincy Jones and his philanthropic Global Gumbo Group.
Following a two-year break, this second festival has seen an overhaul, and is the work of international promoters Live Nation, in conjunction with DWTC, and has been brought under the Eid in Dubai promotions banner.

Studying addiction
This month, Dubai Medical College launched the Middle East’s first master's programme in addiction science.
Together with the Erada Centre for Treatment and Rehabilitation, the college offers a two-year master’s course as well as a one-year diploma in the same subject.
The move was announced earlier this year and is part of a new drive to combat drug abuse and increase the region’s capacity for treating drug addiction.

One in nine do not have enough to eat
Created in 1961, the World Food Programme is pledged to fight hunger worldwide as well as providing emergency food assistance in a crisis.
One of the organisation’s goals is the Zero Hunger Pledge, adopted by the international community in 2015 as one of the 17 Sustainable Goals for Sustainable Development, to end world hunger by 2030.
The WFP, a branch of the United Nations, is funded by voluntary donations from governments, businesses and private donations.
Almost two thirds of its operations currently take place in conflict zones, where it is calculated that people are more than three times likely to suffer from malnutrition than in peaceful countries.
It is currently estimated that one in nine people globally do not have enough to eat.
On any one day, the WFP estimates that it has 5,000 lorries, 20 ships and 70 aircraft on the move.
Outside emergencies, the WFP provides school meals to up to 25 million children in 63 countries, while working with communities to improve nutrition. Where possible, it buys supplies from developing countries to cut down transport cost and boost local economies.

Is it worth it? We put cheesecake frap to the test.
The verdict from the nutritionists is damning. But does a cheesecake frappuccino taste good enough to merit the indulgence?
My advice is to only go there if you have unusually sweet tooth. I like my puddings, but this was a bit much even for me. The first hit is a winner, but it's downhill, slowly, from there. Each sip is a little less satisfying than the last, and maybe it was just all that sugar, but it isn't long before the rush is replaced by a creeping remorse. And half of the thing is still left.
The caramel version is far superior to the blueberry, too. If someone put a full caramel cheesecake through a liquidiser and scooped out the contents, it would probably taste something like this. Blueberry, on the other hand, has more of an artificial taste. It's like someone has tried to invent this drink in a lab, and while early results were promising, they're still in the testing phase. It isn't terrible, but something isn't quite right either.
So if you want an experience, go for a small, and opt for the caramel. But if you want a cheesecake, it's probably more satisfying, and not quite as unhealthy, to just order the real thing.
Global institutions: BlackRock and KKR

KKR & Co, or Kohlberg Kravis Roberts, is a global private equity and investment firm with around $195 billion of assets as of the end of last year. The New York-based firm, founded by Henry Kravis and George Roberts, invests in multiple alternative asset classes through direct or fund-to-fund investments with a particular focus on infrastructure, technology, healthcare, real estate and energy.
Safety 'top priority' for rival hyperloop company
The chief operating officer of Hyperloop Transportation Technologies, Andres de Leon, said his company's hyperloop technology is “ready” and safe.
He said the company prioritised safety throughout its development and, last year, Munich Re, one of the world's largest reinsurance companies, announced it was ready to insure their technology.
“Our levitation, propulsion, and vacuum technology have all been developed [...] over several decades and have been deployed and tested at full scale,” he said in a statement to The National.
“Only once the system has been certified and approved will it move people,” he said.
HyperloopTT has begun designing and engineering processes for its Abu Dhabi projects and hopes to break ground soon.
With no delivery date yet announced, Mr de Leon said timelines had to be considered carefully, as government approval, permits, and regulations could create necessary delays.
