SHARJAH // Three men have been arrested for impersonating police officers and then stealing wallets.
Two Comoros Island nationals and an Asian man were allegedly stopping victims under the pretence that they were police and then stealing the victims’ wallets as they spoke to them.
Sharjah Police’s Criminal Investigation Department was able to track down one of the men after several reports were filed at police stations across the emirate.
One of the Comoros men confessed during interrogations, police said, and then helped arrest the other two in a sting operation.
Police referred the men to prosecutors to face trial.
Col Faisal bin Nassar, deputy director of Sharjah CID, urged residents to request the ID of people who claim to be police officers to avoid falling victim to fraudsters.

The story of Edge
Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, established Edge in 2019.

Uefa Nations League: How it Works
The Uefa Nations League, introduced last year, has reached its final stage, to be played over five days in northern Portugal. The format of its closing tournament is compact, spread over two semi-finals, with the first, Portugal versus Switzerland in Porto on Wednesday evening, and the second, England against the Netherlands, in Guimaraes, on Thursday.
The winners of each semi will then meet at Porto’s Dragao stadium on Sunday, with the losing semi-finalists contesting a third-place play-off in Guimaraes earlier that day.
Qualifying for the final stage was via League A of the inaugural Nations League, in which the top 12 European countries according to Uefa's co-efficient seeding system were divided into four groups, the teams playing each other twice between September and November. Portugal, who finished above Italy and Poland, successfully bid to host the finals.
