DUBAI // A new ferry from Dubai Marina Mall to Al Ghubaiba Station, at Dubai Creek, is to be launched on Monday, the Roads and Transport Authority has said.

The ferry line, which will operate in both directions, is to enhance the tourist marine transport sector and to add new passengers to Dubai Ferry services, state news agency WAM reported on Friday.

Hussain Khansaheb, director of marine transport at the RTA, said the first services on the new line will run at 1pm and 6.30pm.

“The RTA is always keen on providing safe, smooth and advanced mass-transit services to keep abreast of the multitude of events and bustling activities held by Dubai,” he said.

The Dubai Ferry service was launched in March 2011, with further service expansion yet to come.

In addition to public services, it also caters for private functions and the ferry can accommodate 100 passengers, travelling at a speed of 24 knots per hour.
