DUBAI // The Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation has translated three self-help books into Arabic as part of its Book in Minutes initiative.
The scheme aims to strengthen the culture of reading by offering abbreviated, Arabic versions of some of the latest international books.
The first of the books, The War of Art by Steven Pressfield, explains to readers how they can start up a dream business venture, write a novel or paint a masterpiece.
10-10-10 by Suzy Welch focuses on to helping readers to avoid stress, make smart choices and reclaim their lives.
Lastly, No-Drama Discipline by Daniel J Siegel and Tina Payne Bryson explains ways to discipline children, highlighting the link between a child's neurological development and the way a parent reacts to misbehaviour.
Jamal bin Huwaireb, managing director of the foundation, said the books would be invaluable to many readers.
He said: “Most people are unable to set priorities in their lives and as a result they struggle with their daily tasks.
“Such people are not able to take part in social activities and often fail to build good relationships with their children and families. At the end of the day, they feel depressed, isolated and lack self-confidence without realising that identifying one’s priorities in life is the magic key to achieving happiness and satisfaction.”
Mr bin Huwaireb said that by setting priorities and making the right decisions at the right time it was possible to overcome challenges and complete tasks creatively.
