Passengers bedazzled by crystal-encrusted Emirates 'Bling 777' livery - and want it to happen

The fanciful image, which Emirates shared on social media, was created by an artist waiting for her flight

Emirates has unveiled its latest livery – a crystal-encrusted jet it has named Bling 777.

And although it may look very Dubai, it is not actually real.

The image, which the airline shared on its Twitter and Facebook feeds, was created by a crystal artist waiting for her flight.

The picture was posted a day ago by Sara Shakheel, a dentist-turned-artist from Pakistan who has more than 460,000 followers on Instagram.

She creates her artworks by doctoring pictures, superimposing images of crystals, diamonds and sparkly dust on everything from coffee cups to subway trains and even cats' paws.

Her image of the Emirates jet has garnered more than 46,000 likes.

Emirates posted it along with the caption “Presenting the Emirates ‘Bling’ 777”.

But that did not stop many on social media from thinking – and hoping – they may get to fly in it one day.

“Booked an Emirates flight this morning. Full of expectations now,” wrote one hopeful passenger on Twitter.

“Hi [passenger], we look forward to welcoming you on board soon. :)” Emirates replied.

Emirates liked the image so much that the airline asked for permission to repost it. And Ms Shakeel? She received an upgrade for her flight from Pakistan to Milan.
