DUBAI // A 29-year-old Emirati is accused of submitting a forged police good conduct certificate to get a job at a bank.
Dubai Criminal Court heard that the bank wanted the certificate after hiring the man, so he obliged after joining their staff in December last year.
The head of recruitment at the bank said that after the defendant applied for a job online he was hired but asked to provide a good conduct certificate, which he later did.
“Shortly after checking the certificate, which he sent in an email, we discovered it was a forgery and called police,” said the 27-year-old recruitment boss.
The man was found to have been involved in a drug possession case and would not have been issued such a certificate by police.
He is charged with forgery and use of a forged document but he did not enter a plea in court on Sunday.
The next hearing is on December 6.
