UAE weather: Dubai and Abu Dhabi expect high temperatures

Sunshine and highs of up to 48°C are forecast on Friday, with temperatures set to rise further in the coming days.

There may be some cloud but overall it is expected to be sunny with a moderate breeze as the weekend gets underway, according to The National Centre of Meteorology.

By 11am on Friday, it was 39°C in Abu Dhabi and Dubai, with temperatures even higher inland.

Saturday is set to be fair to partly cloudy with and bring an increase in temperature.

By Sunday, temperatures with be "hot to very hot" across the UAE, forecasters predict, with only light to moderate winds.

July, which begins on Monday, is usually the second-hottest month in the UAE, with temperatures slightly higher in August.
