DUBAI // The Ministry of Environment and Water has discussed cooperation on natural fisheries and fish farming with Japan as part of the its efforts to protect fisheries and encourage investment in aquaculture.
Sultan Alwan, assistant undersecretary for water resources and nature conservation at the MoEW, who welcomed a Japanese delegation in Dubai, said the MoEW was keen to lay solid foundations of a stronger aquaculture industry.
He added that the Middle East Aquaculture Forum, held last week, was a significant step in the MoEW’s efforts towards boosting aquaculture.
The meeting reviewed the state of the fish sector in the UAE, the MoEW’s efforts in improving aquaculture, and expertise exchange in maritime research and studies.
