About 430 trees were planted in Ajman and 300 participants swept up about three tonnes of trash as part of the 13th annual environment campaign Clean Up UAE held on Friday.

This was part of a neighbourhood recycling programme and tree planting drive of the Emirates Environment Groups (EEG), according to a statement.

“Year after year, the Clean Up UAE campaign travels to each emirate in hopes of instilling in the people the social responsibility to look after the environment in order to preserve it for the future generation,” said Habiba Al Mar’ashi, EEG chairwoman.

“While the core message has not changed over the years, it is essential to reiterate the necessity of preserving the environment by maintaining cleanliness, recycling and making this an integral part of the activities one carries out on a daily basis.”
