Residents clean up 3.5 tonnes of waste in Umm Al Quwain

UMM AL QUWAIN // Hundreds of volunteers have taken part in a clean-up at a number of sites in the emirate and collected 3.5 tonnes of rubbish.

It was part of the Emirates Environmental Group’s nationwide “Clean Up UAE” campaign.

In total, 400 volunteers including schoolchildren equipped with biodegradable bags took part in the event on Thursday morning.

The focus of attention was at Al Bayt Al Mowahed park, the grounds of Bint Al Shaate school and Umm Al Quwain beach.

The local element of the campaign will conclude in Ajman on December 12 and will also involve tree planting.
