RAS AL KHAIMAH // Fish prices in Ras Al Khaimah have dropped significantly this past weekend as large quantities of Halwayoh fish, fished in Al Rams, Al Jeer and Shaam ports in the emirate, flooded the market.

About 200 tonnes of fish were caught in the past three days, leading to the reduced prices, said Khalifa Al Muheiri, chairman of the fishermen’s association in RAK, according to Al Ittihad, the Arabic-language sister paper of The National.

Halwayoh fish is a favourite among RAK citizens and are now sold for Dh10 per one fish of 1.5 to 3 kilograms, compared with Dh50 or even Dh70 in other periods during the year.
