Al Ain municipality’s emergency centre received more than 220 calls during last week’s sandstorm.
The storm reduced visibility on roads, with members of the public also reporting sand piles and littered streets. People also complained that the storm disturbed insects, which caused a nuisance.
Saeed Al Kaabi, head of the emergency office at the municipality, said the office continued to receive reports on 993 and attend to them, adding that they continued to be on the alert until the weather conditions return to normal, reported Al Ittihad, the Arabic language sister paper of The National.
