AJMAN // A fire broke out in two warehouses in an industrial area of Ajman on Wednesday afternoon.

No injuries were reported in the blaze, which took hold in a building storing plastics and another storing paints, Ajman Civil Defence said.

The fire was reported at 1.45pm, and civil defence crews from three stations in Ajman as well as Sharjah, Dubai and Umm Al Quwain extinguished the fire, said Col Nasser Al Zari, spokesman for Ajman Civil Defence. Ajman Municipality provided water tankers.

Brig Saleh Al Matrooshi, director of Ajman Civil Defence, supervised the efforts to extinguish the fire. He said the fire was quickly controlled and crews prevented it from spreading to nearby warehouses in Ajman’s New Industrial Area.

“The cooling process was started instantly after putting out the flame, and the place was handed over to the competent authorities to complete the procedures and know the cause of the fire,” Brig Al Matrooshi said.

The cause is still being investigated. Brig Al Matrooshi urged warehouse owners to adhere to safety requirements to prevent fires.
