Dense fog blanketing most of the country is causing severe delays at the country's main airports.
Visibility is down to less than 200 metres in some parts, causing havoc during the morning commute.
At Dubai International Airport, dozens of flights scheduled to land between 7am and 8am were in a holding pattern above the Arabian Gulf according to flight monitoring website flightradar24.com
The website estimated that 96 per cent of inbound flights were facing delays of more than a hour.
Some flights had been diverted to other airports including BA109 from London Heathrow and KQ304 from Nairobi. Both landed in Muscat. A flight from Russia landed in Fujairah.
In Sharjah, dozens of Air Arabia flights from Indian destinations and beyond were facing similar delays.
Arrivals to Abu Dhabi International were not as badly affected by the conditions.
Dubai Police urged motorists to drive with caution this morning.
