The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research has launched an award for Emirati university students conducting research and studies contributing to the development of sustainable initiatives.

Sheikh Hamdan bin Mubarak, the minister, said that the Green Economy - Innovation and Sustainability Award will help support the industry of sustainable development from the ground up. “Since we are going to build a green, sustainable, competitive and knowledge economy, this requires continuing on the path of scientific research, innovation and creativity,” he said.

“The aim of this award is to encourage our students to direct their interests and research in areas that support a green economy in the UAE.” The annual award aims to motivate UAE undergraduate and graduate students inside the country and abroad. Projects will be selected according to set criteria that places heavy emphasis on projects that prioritise the country’s development goal, UAE Vision 2021.
