DUBAI // The Al Wathba Wetland Reserve in Abu Dhabi will reopen to visitors at the start of November.
The park was closed during the summer for the flamingo breeding season, the Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi (EAD) said.
The EAD is upgrading facilities to accommodate visitors with special needs as well as building more bird hides, one of which will be dedicated to the observation of freshwater birds.
The agency is also extending the walking trails around the site.
The reserve will be open for visitors on Thursdays and Saturdays from 8am to 2pm.
Photography enthusiasts can enter a competition from November 1 until the start of May, by following the EAD’s Instagram account and uploading photographs from the reservice and using the hashtags #Alwathbacontest #inabudhabi.
Participants can upload a maximum of two photographs.
The five winning pictures will be announced next year.
Prizes, worth a total Dh20,000, will be awarded to the winners in the form of vouchers.
