RAS AL KHAIMAH // An Emirati woman who suffered severe burns to almost her entire body in an oven explosion earlier this week died in hospital on Wednesday morning.
The 63-year-old suffered burns to 95 per cent of her body after the oven blew up when she was cooking breakfast for her family at her home in Ras Al Khaimah on Monday.
A source at Saqr Hospital said the woman was traumatised and in huge pain due to the serious burns and was admitted to the intensive care unit. The following day, she was taken to Mafraq Hospital for further medical attention.
The source said such incidents are rare, with traffic incidents accounting for the greatest number of accident and emergency cases.
The public were urged to ensure safety in the kitchen by turning off gas connections and making sure there are no leaks. In the event of an incident, first aid must be provided to the victim and an ambulance must be called.
